Kieron and Kathy
"It was great to find somewhere that we both felt we fitted in."
Kathy says: “Kieron and I started attending SNAPS because I wanted him to experience some of the things he couldn’t in a mainstream setting. He enjoyed meeting new friends and doing things like rebound, dance and more recently he’s been having hydrotherapy sessions which he loves. It was great to find somewhere that we both felt we fitted in.
“More recently I’ve joined in the carers groups, like the walk and talk and support group coffee mornings. I enjoy both these groups as it’s good to be with other parents/carers and have a chat with them. I also enjoy taking part in the crafts that we have at the coffee mornings. It’s nice to have something for me to do child free.
“One of Kieron’s favourite things has been the Superhero Challenge. He thoroughly enjoys taking part and feeling like a superhero ,even if it’s just for a day. There are no winners or losers in the challenge, and he can take his time and enjoy being with his SNAPS friends.
“Sports can be very challenging for Kieron due to his physical needs and there are lot of things he’s no longer allowed to do due to the restrictions of his condition, thankfully walking around a track at his own pace is something he can still do.
“He’s so happy when he gets a medal at the end of the challenge and truly feels like a superhero. I love seeing the huge smile on his face when he receives it.”
